The House Of Capricorn are paving the way for this style in New Zealand. As far as what I can see they've been one of the country's best kept secrets for too long, only now beginning to emerge in public consciousness (especially in Christchurch where I live) as a definitive leader in the style nationally.
For anyone interested in the likes of Down, High On Fire, and Kyuss ... the usuals, not to say this band isn't bringing their own original element to the style and to their live performance.
It's intelligent, painfully heavy rock which is so ruthlessly addictive you wont resist getting up and moving to it.
South Islanders can catch the HOC live on stage when they headline the first annual EYES OF THE SOUTH Stoner Fest' on December 15th at Christchurch's infamous Jetset Lounge. For all other gig information see the gig's section of this forum or the aforementioned myspace link.
Highlight tracks: The Rivers & The Rain, Sol _________________

Fuck I never knew there was the chance to buy or get a physical copy, I downloaded it from a file sharing site.
These songs are definitely a step up from the old stuff, which I already thought was good. |

First saw HoC when they supported Slavetrader last year. I was quite surprised, mainly by the vocals, as they reminded me of Jawload (whose album I randomly picked up a few years ago). Now I can't help but think of Jawload as a funny high-pitched non-metal version of HoC. _________________ Tonight we dine in hell, tomorrow we poop like the devil. |

Jawload was kinda comical garage rock with a circus/country feel to it. Quite similar to HLAH. Just noticed the album is on smokecds.com too. _________________ Tonight we dine in hell, tomorrow we poop like the devil. |
