Watched Von Trier's 'Melencholia' last night for the second time, best modern movie I've seen in awhile. I was kind of put off Von Trier after 'Dogville' and 'Anti-Christ', but 'Melencholia' is the shit. It's hard to give an easy synopsis, but it's basically about depression and the end of the world, the cinematography is stunning and Kirsten Dunst is also good (never thought I'd say that). Also lots of romantic over tones (like the use of Wagner's 'Tristan & Isolde' prelude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-qoaioG2UA). Anyway, it's hard to really pin why it's awesome, but it is, so check it out.

Watched The Devil Inside tonight.
I really dig shitty exorcism flicks for some stupid reason but this one just straight up sucks.
It starts weak, shows signs of trying to get better, dips back to weak and then finishes really abruptly with little to no payoff.
The only memorable moment was: a priest getting possessed, overpowering the demon to say the lords prayer. Stops before the end, laughs and says something like "you forgot to say thank you" then shoots himself.
Some sweet contortion scenes but overall: FuckAll/10.

Seen in the last few months:

The Hobbit
Skyfall
Lemon Tree
The Bourne Legacy
Django Unchained
Unstoppable (I like how a supposedly ridiculous disaster film mostly stays true to the real-life incident it's based on)
Hitchcock (Great film, a few great moments for fans of his stuff. Hopkins is the man also, makes a good Alfred)

Django, The Hobbit and Skyfall were all rad flicks.

Incase anyone was thinking about it, don't waste your money on Liberal Arts. Unless you wanna see Josh Radnor cast himself as a pseudo-intellectual whom every woman in the world wants to sleep with and have him inflict his conservative dating morals upon you.

Crash
Argo
M (great stuff, always like the old old classic crime/mystery/thriller flicks)
Mongol
Life of Pi (not in 3D though, just watched it on a flight)

Also watched The Road:

The bleakest most hopeless end of the world movie I've ever seen. Quite an ordeal to watch and not something i'd need to return to often but probably the most believable one made so far, which is what makes it so terrifying.

Didn't do much for me. It was like a long-drawn-out uncomfortable feeling and not much story to go with it.
