I don't like Earth's new stuff, so wasn't sure what I'd think of them. Live they stripped it back to guitar, bass and drums, and it seemed beefed up with more drone and feedback. The older tunes they played were rifftastic. Always interesting to watch drone drummers. The drummer's movements were quite fluid, she's got her style down to a T. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Glad I saw them one essential time, but unlikely to bother again.

The Body Lyre's sound was a bit over the top with effects. The last 2 songs rocked quite hard though.

Somme ruled, good to finally see them at the KA. The 1st song was delivered well for a newie. Packed a punch when the guitar distortion kicked in, and packed another punch when the drums kicked in.

I think I would've liked to have seen a set with a bit of balance between their new and old styles. I enjoyed the new stuff but it did start to tire on me here and there.
That drummer was amazing though. A real exercise in taste, patience, and space.
Got to shoot the shit with Dylan from Earth afterwards as well, real nice bloke.

Was pretty stoked with how the Somme set went. Got to bust out a couple of newies, and it was sweet to play em through a huge PA.

Enjoyed Body Lyre as well. Hadn't really heard them before but I thought they complimented Earth's current sound quite well.
Good move to point them between us and Earth, I think thought might've been a bit of a clash.

Thinking on it, the cellist would've been nice to have onboard, anyone know why she didn't come along?

'ouroboros is broken' live sounded nothing like the heavy version I used to love on the old sub pop comp. vhs tape...

Yeah, I actually prefer the Hibernaculum version. it sounds as though it's less rushed and feels far more otherworldly. ECE version is still a beast though.
